At Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, adventure doesn’t have an age limit—and our recent resident trip to Maine was proof of just that.
From ocean views to unforgettable meals and plenty of laughter along the way, this four-day journey was filled with meaningful moments, new experiences, and the kind of connection that defines life at Shaker Pointe.
On the first of our four-day trip, our travelers arrived safely and kicked off the trip with a special treat: a private dinner at Birdie’s, which graciously opened just for our group. It was the perfect way to settle in, share excitement for the days ahead, and enjoy a delicious start to what would become an unforgettable adventure.
Day two brought one of Maine’s most iconic sights—Portland Head Light. With its rugged coastline, sweeping ocean views, and bright sunshine, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country. Residents took in the scenery, captured photos, and simply enjoyed being together in such a beautiful place.
The day continued on the water with a scenic lighthouse cruise through Portland Harbor. Along the way, travelers learned about the region’s rich maritime history while soaking in views of Maine’s working waterfront and picturesque coastline. It was a perfect blend of relaxation, education, and exploration.

By day three, the group had fully settled into vacation mode—enjoying great food, sharing laughs, and making memories at every turn. Maine’s signature flavors were certainly part of the experience, with fresh seafood and local favorites on the menu.
And of course, no Maine trip would be complete without a little personality; our residents’ smiles prove what a wonderful time they had traveling!
The final day was just as full as the rest. Residents visited the peaceful Franciscan Monastery in Kennebunk, explored the charming town, and even caught a glimpse of the Bush family compound along the coast.
The trip wrapped up with a memorable lunch in Boothbay, where lobster once again made an appearance—because some traditions are worth repeating.
Beyond the destinations and activities, what made this Maine adventure truly special was the sense of community. These shared experiences—traveling together, trying new things, and simply enjoying one another’s company—are at the heart of what makes life at Shaker Pointe so meaningful.
We’re already looking ahead to our next adventure, and if this trip is any indication, there are many more memories to be made.
