At Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, we like to say our community is a family, and this week, we got to celebrate a milestone for one of our own families in a very public way.
Dennis Stephens, our Director of Facilities, works hard to keep Shaker Pointe running smoothly behind the scenes. But this week, the spotlight belonged to his daughter, Lexi Stephens, who earned a dramatic four-chair turn during her blind audition on Season 30 of NBC’s The Voice.
Lexi, 23, took the stage and delivered a performance of “Die on This Hill” by Sienna Spiro that turned every coach’s chair. Adam Levine spun first, quickly joined by Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green, before Queen Latifah completed the four-chair sweep. Adam went on to say, “Honestly, Lexi, that was by far the best Blind Audition. I think you’re gonna probably win The Voice.” Queen Latifah described the performance as masterful, while Kelly pointed to her own background as a four-time winning coach as reason enough for Lexi to consider joining her team.
Dennis wasn’t about to watch his daughter’s big moment alone, and neither were we! On Tuesday, September 22, Shaker Pointe’s Founders Room filled with staff, residents, and members of Dennis and Lexi’s family for a watch party to cheer Lexi on as her audition aired. The excitement in the room was contagious, and Lexi even treated everyone to a live performance of Adele’s “All I Ask” before the episode aired.
Lexi’s been building toward this moment for years. She’s a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she majored in musical theater with a minor in songwriting, and she now works as a New York-based actor. She previously earned a golden ticket to Hollywood on American Idol in 2023, and while at Berklee she was a featured soloist with the a cappella group Upper Structure, which placed third in the finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Since graduating, she’s taken the stage as Bella in the White Plains Performing Arts Center’s production of Jagged Little Pill.
Lexi’s roots trace back to Florida, where she graduated from Palm Harbor University High School and, in 2021, won a $3,000 scholarship as the top theater student in Pinellas County’s Walker’s Rising Stars Scholarship Competition. These days, she also shares her voice with more than 13,000 followers on TikTok.
We’re proud to have Dennis as part of our Shaker Pointe team, and we’re thrilled to share this exciting moment with him and his family. We’ll be keeping an eye on Lexi’s journey through The Voice this season, and we hope you’ll join us in cheering her on!
