I have been at Shaker Pointe for about a year. I must admit, at first, I was really nervous about coming here. New people, new place, and new activities. In the long run, it all worked out great and I am so happy to be here. The best part, which is something that’s hard to put into words, is the “culture.” The people are kind, helpful and respectful of each other. Sometimes you have to live it in order to find that out. As a member of Shaker Pointe for nine and a half years, I truly endorse community living. Our administration, residents, and staff work hard to keep communication open to keep everyone aware of growth and potential changes. We have many classes and activities to keep us both aware of current events and in good physical health. We also have a meditation session at noon every day to assist in peace of mind. There are also outings to museums, parks, and to SPAC and Tanglewood.Ann W.
We have been residents of Shaker Pointe for 2 wonderful years. When the house and garden became too much for us, it was an easy decision to make our lives simpler and stressless. Living here has been a joy in all respects. We love our apartment in Doane Brook. Being in the main building has its rewards in winter wherein we simply walk downstairs for all our activities. Maintenance is always available if we have a problem in the apartment. The activities are extensive and fulfilling. They are created by the activities director, as well as by the residents. There are numerous resident-driven activities. Staff members honor the suggestions and needs of the residents. Most of all, it is a very caring community where people spontaneously reach out to each other. Best decision we ever made!
